I'm new to engine building. Watched a lot of videos prior to changing a connectiong rod, and it looked easy enough to give it a try. Used a cheap ring compressor. Couldn't get it round. After half an hour struggling, finally got a little frustrated and broke a ring.
Watched more videos, this time focusing specifically on ring compressors. One Youtuber said he's used all the different types in his career, and while this type is a little pricey, it's the best. No reviews on this site, so I hesitantly ordered this one and more rings. Oh my gosh! I could push the piston in the cylinder by hand it works so slick!
